Company Overview
The Fulton County Medical Center (FCMC) is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation that owns and operates an 88 bed critical access hospital and skilled nursing care facility. FCMC provides acute care hospital, long term nursing, home care, outpatient and rehab services. It’s nestled between two beautiful mountain ranges in the valley of Great Cove and serves McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area.
FCMC is conveniently located just hours from the metropolitan areas of Baltimore, MD and Washington D.C. and just an hour from our state capital in Harrisburg. It offers the attraction of a small town atmosphere with many of the big town conveniences close by. Chambersburg, PA, Bedford, PA and Hagerstown, MD are all within 30 miles and offer entertainment, recreation, mall and outlet shopping, major restaurant chains, etc. Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD, Pittsburgh, PA and Philadelphia, PA are all a within 2-3 hour drive. There are many opportunities for outdoor activities with Whitetail Ski and Ski Liberty resorts as well as the Appalachian Trail, State and National Parks all within a 30 minute drive. Company History
FCMC first opened its doors in September of 1950 after a local physician voiced his need and dream for a medical center in Fulton County. In 1959, FCMC added beds for the growing community need. A new lab, ER, OB Delivery suite and OR/Recovery suite were added in 1968. 1976 saw the nursing home added. In 2001, FCMC received CAH designation and began to plan and build a replacement facility that opened in November 2007. The patient services building was added in 2009. Today FCMC offers state-of-the-art technology that keeps pace with the ever changing needs of healthcare.
