Job Summary:

  • Your role is is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a cost-effective system of care for trauma patients and their families throughout the continuum of care. 
  • Your role works both independently and in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director and other members of the health care team and the management staff. 
  • Your role is self-directed and self-motivating, plans and conducts work with minimal direction, and reports the progress of work to the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Your role provides and documents trauma nursing care to include all components of the nursing process in accordance with written clinical and administrative procedures
  • Your role assesses the needs for policies, procedures, protocols, supplies and equipment relating to the care of trauma patients in coordination with the Trauma Medical Director, hospital administration and clinicians to ensure maintenance of Level II Trauma certification.
  • Your role serves as the coordinator of the identification, investigation, reporting and follow-up of incidents and quality issues throughout the program. Works with the Trauma Registrar to maintain Trauma Registry.
  • Your role collaborates with the Trauma Medical Director to establish trauma program goals and objectives consistent with those of the hospital and ensure that those of the trauma service are being met.
  • Your role participates in the development of trauma care systems at the community, state, and/or national levels.
  • Your role provides education to community regarding prevention of accidents, use of helmets, life safety, fire protection, inclement weather awareness, etc.
  • Your role supervises Trauma Services staff, including the Trauma Registrars, PI Coordinators, Injury Prevention Coordinator, and the Administrative Assistant.
  • Your role develops, coordinates and implements orientation, nursing education and in-service programs related to care and management of trauma patients in conjunction with the Department of Education and Training.
  • Your role directs community trauma education and prevention programs by developing, implementing and evaluating programs for targeted populations in the city and surrounding communities related to injury prevention, as well as other topics identified through a needs assessment for the community.

  • Three to Five Years in a Trauma setting with managerial experience.
  • Valid TN Nursing license (or eligible)
  • TNCC Provider, BLS, ACLS
  • Associate of Applied Science in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, BSN required.
